CO2 Laser

What is CO2 Laser?

The CO2 is a combination of the MIXTO CO2 Fractional Laser with your PRP. This procedure offers a superior solution for rejuvenating and resurfacing the skin. This fractional laser can be used effectively to treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne and surgical scars, skin pigmentation and discoloration, sun damage, pre-cancerous as well as benign lesions and uneven skin texture. With the use of your own PRP (stem cells from your blood), this treatment has the capacity to completely regenerate your skin from scratch.

The MIXTO CO2 resurfaces compromised or damaged skin, and the PRP rebuilds your collagen and elastin. This rejuvenation dramatically improves fine lines and wrinkles, acne scaring, surgical scars, skin pigmentation or discoloration, sun damage, pre-cancerous and benign lesions, as well as firms and tightens the skin.

The MIXTO CO2 hand-piece offers a 350nm spot size for optimal energy delivery to the target. It also provides the operator with adjustable controls on the hand-piece for ease of use and shape variability. The articulated laser arm enables flexibility for optimal treatment efficiency with each patient no matter what area is being treated.

How does it work?

MIXTO CO2 offers optimal delivery of thermal energy to the epidermis and upper dermis with a pattern of laser light causing minute perforations in the epidermis while leaving the surrounding skin intact. The result is quicker healing and less patient discomfort as the patient’s own collagen works synergistically with the procedure to rebuild collagen which effectively tightens loose skin and large pores, giving a more youthful appearance within weeks and continued improvement over time as collagen continues rebuilding.

Your face will ooze and swell for the first 48 hours and then will quickly improve. Generally the procedure is not extremely painful, and feels more like a sunburn. You should shower and gently wash your face each morning and night.

Avoid strenuous exercise, bending, straining, stooping or lifting heavy objects for 1 week after procedure. These activities may cause more swelling and pain on your face and slow down your recovery.

Laser resurfacing does not have permanent results. Many people notice immediate results on their skin. This may continue to get better for up to a year.

The length of time between your laser resurfacing treatments will depend on your Nurse Nataly’s recommendations, your skin type, and other factors. In general, the skin needs about 12 weeks between laser treatments to recover and be ready for the next session

The Fractional CO2 Laser is more aggressive than the Fraxel laser, requiring 4-5 days of downtime after the treatment. However, only one treatment is necessary with the Fractional CO2 Laser (compared to 4 Fraxel treatments), so some patients find that the Fractional CO2 is more convenient.
