Are you bothered by excess fatty tissue beneath your jawline and chin? Also known as a “double chin”, this excess fat can be caused by many factors, including genetics, aging, or weight gain and can add years to your appearance. Thankfully, Kybella can help! Kybella is the first and only injectable that is FDA-approved to eliminate submental fullness (excess fat under the jawline). It contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps to break down and absorb fat.
Your Kybella treatment will be performed in one of our comfortable treatment rooms. Once the treatment area has been mapped out, a series of injections will be applied. While Kybella is not a painful procedure, local or topical anesthetic may be applied prior to treatment if desired.
One treatment session takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Most patients will require 2-6 treatment sessions each spaced four weeks apart for optimal results. Nurse Nataly can recommend additional treatments to complement your Kybella results, including dermal fillers, Botox, and more.
There is no downtime needed following a Kybella treatment, so you can feel free to return to your normal activities, including exercise, right away. Most patients can begin to see results after one to two Kybella treatments. As the fatty tissue is absorbed by the body, the contours of the submental area will slowly improve. The fat cells that are eliminated during Kybella treatments will not return, and results are expected to be permanent.
While it is rare to experience serious complications after Kybella treatments, there is always a small risk involved, as with any procedure. It is not uncommon for patients to experience mild swelling or bruising, which should resolve within a few days. If you are concerned regarding any of your symptoms following treatment, do not hesitate to reach out to Nurse Nataly.
Healthy individuals who are bothered by the appearance of excess fat beneath their jawline can often benefit from Kybella. Ideal patients will have realistic expectations for their results and fully understand the non-invasive Kybella treatment plan. However, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have a bleeding disorder, who have excess skin or scar tissue under the chin, or who have an active infection in the treatment site should not receive this treatment. The best way to determine if Kybella is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Nurse Nataly.

Kybella injections can be uncomfortable because of the sensitive nature of the chin. We can supply a topical numbing cream during your appointment so you can remain comfortable.

Patients will see their desired results approximately one month after their final treatment session.
“The Kybella kills the fat cells so the fat won’t come back in the treated area, but it still can come back, and it may come back in a new area” . “If you normally gain weight in the chin, it could come back in the neck post-Kybella, which may look unnatural. This can also happen with liposuction
The reality is, one Kybella injection session will most likely not be enough. While patients will see improvement after each session, unless they have only a small amount of fat to treat, they will probably need three to five sessions.
The patient can wear as chinstrap, according to the recommendations of Nurse Natalyto decrease the swelling. The patient should restrict their intake of salt for a few days
It is equally important to assess the quality of the skin overlying the fat to be injected with Kybella. Unlike liposuction which removes fat but can leave loose skin, there is some contraction of the skin that is noted to occur with Kybella as it gradually dissolves treated fat.
Kybella Injections Hurt. Each patient will have his or her own pain threshold, but Kybella injections are no more than a mild burning sensation. The area will be numbed prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort.
Kybella is priced by the amount of solution used which is per vial. Prices range from $500-$750 per vial, with the typical patient requiring at least two-six vials per treatment.
KYBELLA® is administered by subcutaneous injections (maximum of 50 injections) into submental fat at approximately 0.2 mL per injection (up to a total of 10 mL), spaced 1 cm apart using a 30-G (or smaller) 0.5-inch needle. Up to 6 single treatments may be administered at intervals no less than 1 month apart.
